Interview with Alex Hargrave

Alex Hargrave (class of 2020) was a former Beautiful Social Research Collaborative consultant. Alex is now a General Assignment Reporter for the Buffalo Bulletin. The Buffalo Bulletin is a small local newspaper in Northeastern Wyoming. In her position, Alex interviews, writes, and focuses mainly on healthcare and natural resources.

I had two questions for Alex. My first one being: “What skills or any notable experiences did you gain through Beautiful Social?”.

Alex said she was able to work on communicating with professionals through Beautiful Social. She also said Beautiful Social was a great opportunity to work with different non-profits and see how each one functions. Alex also said she was super grateful to be able to get professional experience and receive credit for the class. She also noted that completing the Social Media Analysis was super helpful in teaching her how to be well versed in social media. Alex said that was super important since we are in a digital era.

I then asked Alex my second question: “What do you think Beautiful Social helped teach you about what you like or don’t like when looking at a company to work for?”.

Alex said through working with Beautiful Social, she learned that she really enjoyed a small staff because it allowed her to work closely with everyone. She also said with a smaller staff she felt like she was able to make her voice heard.
